HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Rabbi Rami Shapiro, an author, poet and educator, will hold a workshop, "The Divine Feminine," based on biblical wisdom literature, at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20, in Sill Boardroom in the von Liebig Center for Science. on the Juniata College campus.

The workshop is free and open to the public. The workshop will be done in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Office

Rabbi Shapiro will guide participants in how to interpret these Scriptures as a map for living in harmony, how to love with integrity and act joyously.

Rabbi Shapiro looks at the Hebrew books of "Psalms," "Proverbs," "Song of Songs," "Ecclesiastes" and "Job" and uses translations and commentary to clarify how the feminine deity of wisdom teaches how to live justly, wisely and with compassion.

Rabbi Shapiro will guide participants in how to interpret these Scriptures as a map for living in harmony, how to love with integrity and act joyously.

Shapiro has written more than a dozen books of translation, biblical commentary and nonfiction. He was a congregational rabbi for more than two decades, serving at Temple Beth Or in Miami, Fla. and at Metivta in Los Angeles, Calif.

His books include "The Sacred Art of Lovingkindness," "The Divine Feminine" and "Ethics of the Sages." He also is a director of One River, a nonprofit educational foundation devoted to building community through conversation.

Shapiro writes a column for Spirituality and Health magazine titled "Roadside Assistance for the Spiritual Traveler.

He is an adjunct professor of religious studies at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Shapiro received rabbinical ordination from the Hebrew Union College's Jewish Institute of Religion. He earned a doctoral degree in Judaic studies from Union Graduate School.
