HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College women's volleyball opened its 2011 Landmark Conference slate with a pair of wins, defeating Catholic University of America and Moravian College each by 3-0 scores on Saturday at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.

The matches were part of a Landmark round robin weekend hosted by Juniata.

Juniata (12-4, 2-0 Landmark) opened play with a 25-20, 25-14, and 25-14 win over Catholic, led by Kelsey Fuller's (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) 14 kills on 25 swings. Amanda Schmidt (Boswell, Pa./North Star) tacked on 12 kills for the Eagles, who hit .325 for the match.

Setter Courtney Greenberg (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) logged 43 assists, while libero Libby Morrison (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) accounted for 17 of the Eagles' 45 digs. Freshman outside hitter Cat Scholl (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic) had four block assists for Juniata.

Juniata outdug Catholic, 57 to 46, and benefited from six service aces, including three by Schmidt.

The Eagles closed out the day with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-13 win over Moravian College.

Pin hitter Rachelle Wiegand (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) paced Juniata with seven kills, while sophomore Amy Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) added six kills.

Juniata again dominated at the service line, amassing seven aces - three by Wiegand - to Moravian's two. The Eagles also tallied 7.0 total team blocks, with Amelia Kepler (Kane, Pa./Kane Area) and Christine Sumner (Dublin, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) each having a hand in four blocks.

Juniata completes play in the first Landmark Conference weekend on Sunday, hosting the University of Scranton at 10:00 a.m., followed by Susquehanna University at 3:00 p.m.
