LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Juniata senior outside hitter Chris Vrooman (Baden, Pa./Ambridge Area) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men's Volleyball All-America First Team announced on April 11, 2011. All selections were made by the AVCA Men's Division III Volleyball All-America Committee.

Vrooman finished first on the team for kills with 327 in the 2011 season, totaling 818 kills in his career. He averaged 3.24 kills per set this season and had an attacking percentage of .317. He tied for second on the team with 20 service aces, bringing his grand total to 53. He also chipped in 118 digs in his senior year alone, to tally 391 in his career. Vrooman accumulated two solo blocks and 61 blocking assists this season, to contribute 15 solo blocks and 146 blocking assists in four seasons for the Eagles.

This season Vrooman's awards piled high, as he was named Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Hay Player of the Week on two separate occasions, as well as the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men's Player of the Week. He ranks in the top-10 in the EIVA in kills and garners AVCA All-American honors for the first time.

Vrooman was one of ten First Team All-Americans, while ten other athletes were named Second Team All-Americans from ten different schools. Vrooman will travel to the Molten Division III Men's Invitational Volleyball Championship banquet in Rochester, N.Y. on Apr. 14, 2011 to receive his award.
