HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Dr. Michael Lehman, a medical doctor and recent graduate of the master's of business administration program at the University of Leeds, England, has accepted a position as executive director of Juniata College's Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and the Juniata Valley Incubator, effective Jan. 2, 2003.

Lehman will be in Huntingdon, Monday, Oct. 28 to meet with representatives of Huntingdon Community County Business and Industry Inc.

Lehman's duties will include overseeing the budget and operations of the center, as well as administrating the dispersal of seed capital grants and developing revenue-generating programs for the center. Lehman, a 1994 Juniata graduate, also will develop links with regional, state and national economic development organizations as well as with venture capital firms and entrepreneurs.

"Mike Lehman's experience at high levels in business, medicine and science makes his appointment as the leader of our business incubator a coup for Juniata," says Juniata President Thomas R. Kepple. "His familiarity with all levels of business, the Huntingdon-area community and higher education will be a tremendous asset to Juniata and the area."

Lehman comes to Juniata from Depuy International Ltd., a Leeds-based company owned by Johnson & Johnson Inc., where he was project manager for new technologies since June 2002. Concurrently, Lehman pursued his MBA degree from September 2001 until graduating in June.

Before leaving to earn his MBA, Lehman was a medical resident in the Department of Psychiatry at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in the Penn State College of Medicine. He earned his doctor of medicine degree from Penn State in 1999.
Lehman also worked as a faculty instructor at Penn State's College of medicine from 2000 to 2001.

Lehman earned a cum laude bachelor's degree in pre-medical studies in 1994 from Juniata, where he also was elected class president and class treasurer.

He has been an active volunteer for Juniata College since his graduation, serving on the college's Alumni Council since 1996. On the council, he served as vice president from 1999 to 2000 and became president of the alumni group from 2000 to 2001. He also volunteered for a medical mission at Maforga Christian Mission in Mozambique, Africa in 1994.
