HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- A variety of Juniata College students who participate in the college's music program will perform in an Honors Recital at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 14, in Rosenberger Auditorium on the Juniata campus.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will open with the college's Clarinet Choir playing "Adagio," by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a composition particularly suited to clarinet. The students in the clarinet ensemble are: Allison DiVito, a junior from Bedford, Pa.; Erin Francis, a junior from Parkton, Md.; Danielle Partsch, a junior from Salix, Pa.; Amanda Peretin, a junior from Sidman, Pa.; Steven Schmitt a senior from Lancaster, Pa.; Rebecca Strohm, a sophomore from Penfield, N.Y.; and Melissa Zilch, a sophomore from Mount Union, Pa.

Cellist Matthew Scott, a senior from Sunderland, Mass., will perform the "Prelude" to "Suite No. 1" by Johann Sebastian Bach.

The next selections are two songs, "In der Fremde," by Robert Schumann, and "Tonight/Somewhere," from "West Side Story," sung by vocalist Erik Dulick, a senior from Hummelstown, Pa. Dulick will be accompanied by pianist Rebecca Swaintek, a sophomore from Alburtis, Pa.

The next soloist will be Melissa Bresnahan, a sophomore from Elm Grove, Wis., playing violoncello on the composition "Julie-o."

Emma Ruggery, a sophomore from Hollidaysburg, Pa., will play piano on "Andante Con Moto, Op. 19, No. 1," from "Songs Without Words," by Felix Mendelssohn.

The next selection will be the second movement of the "Cello Concerto No. 1 in G Minor" by Dmitry Kabalevsky, played by Katerina Korch, a junior from Shillington, Pa., on violoncello. She will be accompanied by Henry Thurston-Griswold, professor of Spanish, on piano.

The Honors Woodwind Quintet will perform "Menuetto and Trio," by Franz Joseph Haydn. The quintet members are: Janet Berlin, lecturer in music at Juniata; Robert Draham, a freshman from Port Republic, Md.; Steven Schmitt, a senior from Lancaster; Anne Staudenmaier, a senior from Harrisburg, Pa.; and Claire Wayman, a sophomore from Ontario, N.Y.

Vocalist Andrew Orsie, a junior from Summit Point, W.Va., will perform two pieces, "O Thou Billowy Harvest-Field," by Sergei Rachmaninoff, and "Left Behind," written by Duncan Sheik, from the musical "Spring Awakening."

Violinist James Rixey, a junior from Mechanicsburg, Pa., will play Fritz Kreisler's "Praeludium and Allegro in the style of Paganini." Rixey will be accompanied by Ben Sunderland, associate professor of mathematics.

The concert will close with the return of Erik Dulick, this time playing a piano composition, "Prelude in C Minor," by Rachmaninoff. Dulick, as noted above, is a senior from Hummelstown.
