Huntingdon, PA -- Juniata outside linebacker Jason Stouffer (Newport/Newport) earned conference defensive player of the week honors in helping Juniata to a victory over Wilkes.

Stouffer's biggest contributions against Wilkes came in the fourth quarter. After Wilkes scored a touchdown cutting Juniata's lead to 27-26, Stouffer blocked the extra-point attempt, preserving the Eagles' lead. He then put the game away on the following possession when he returned an interception 43 yards for a touchdown. Juniata won the game 34-26, improving to 4-0 on the season. It is the Eagles first 4-0 start since the 1986 season, when they finished the year with a record of 9-2.

Stouffer finished the game with seven tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble along with the blocked extra point and interception return for a touchdown. The touchdown marked the first time in his career that Stouffer reached the end zone.

This season Stouffer ranks third on the team in tackles with 30, 13 of which have been solo stops, and is third with seven tackles for a loss and has also recovered a fumble. He has forced two fumbles which ranks him first not only with the team, but first among all players in the conference.

This marks the second-consecutive week in which Juniata has had the conference defensive player of the week. Senior lineman Fred Taber was honored last week. The Eagles will put their undefeated record on the line this Saturday when they host Kings College.
