WASHINGTON, Pa. -- A four game winning streak improves by one more Thursday evening when the Juniata College field hockey team traveled to Washington, Pa., to take on Washington and Jefferson College in non-conference action. Even though the Presidents interrupted Juniata scoring twice, Juniata came out on top 4-2.

Under the lights at Cameron Stadium, the Presidents found the back of the net first in the ninth minute when Alexandra Kania assisted Jennifer Marabella. Jacqueline Hoozemans (Delgauw, The Netherlands/Stanislaus College) reacted in the 20th minute. However, Marabella responded once more with another assist from Kania in the 31st minute.

Caitlyn Bowman (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown) reassured the Eagles with an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute. In the second period, Paula Price (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) had her 13th goal of the season. She was assisted by Shauna Deschenes (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita), her sixth assist this season. Hoozeman topped off the scoring for the Eagles in the 61st minute.

Moira Nugent (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) stopped three shots, playing all 70 minutes. Shelby Colyer defended the net for the Presidents, making nine saves in all 70 minutes.

Juniata outshot the Presidents 19-8. Juniata had ten more penalty corners than their opponent. The final tally in corners was 12-2.

The team returns to Landmark Conference action when it travels to Moravian College on Saturday, Oct. 2, in Bethlehem, Pa. Game time is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
