HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College men's soccer team was picked to finish eighth in the Landmark Conference in 2010, in preseason voting among the league's coaches and sports information directors released on Tuesday.

Juniata tallied 23 points in the poll, trailing seventh place Goucher College by one point.

Catholic University was tapped to repeat as Landmark champions this season, earning 89 points in the balloting. United States Merchant Marine Academy was second with 78 points, while the University of Scranton was third with 69 points.

Juniata is led by junior David Grim (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area), who leads the Eagle returnees with two goals and two assists for six points. Junior Jeffrey Gring (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and junior Luke Waddell (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) also contributed two goals last season. Juniata returns veteran keeper Joe Kohler (Vienna, Va./James Madison), but will be bolstered at that position by the addition of Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico), a transfer from Division II Philadelphia University.

Juniata opens its season on Wednesday, Sept. 1, when it hosts the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
