HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College junior outfielder John Martinez (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union) has been named a Gold Glove honoree while senior shortstop Andrew Kriss (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) was tapped as a Third team selection, when the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released its Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams.

Martinez committed just two errors in 107 chances in the outfield this season, finishing with a .981 fielding percentage. He ranked sixth in the Landmark Conference in both batting (.385) and on base percentage (.473), was tied for fifth in total hits with 52, and was 10th in slugging (.548). Martinez also led the team in home runs (4) and walks (21). Martinez earned First team All-Landmark Conference honors this season, marking his first appearance on an all-conference squad.

Kriss, a two-time All-Landmark Conference selection, finished his final collegiate campaign with a conference-best .432 batting average and 70 total hits. He also led the Eagles in doubles (14), runs (39), and slugging percentage (.556), and ranked among the Landmark's top ten in each of those categories. Kriss was also Juniata's leader in stolen bases with 11. For his career, Kriss was third among Juniata's all-time hits leaders with 166, and his 388 career assists is the most in program history.

Juniata completed its 2010 campaign with a 15-25 overall record, 10-8 in the Landmark Conference. The Eagles earned the fourth and final spot in the 2010 Landmark Conference Baseball Tournament with a 16-3 victory over the University of Scranton on the final day of the season; Juniata then used that momentum to advance all the way to the championship round of the conference playoffs, before being ousted by Moravian College. It marked Juniata Baseball's first appearance in a conference championship game since 2006, when the Eagles played in the Commonwealth Conference.
