HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College senior Rachel Nagy's (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) hitting performance while leading the Eagles to three conference wins in four games has earned her Landmark Conference Softball Player of the Week honors, for the week ending April 25, 2010.

Nagy batted .583 (7-of-12) for the week with eight runs batted in and scoring seven times, pacing Juniata to a doubleheader sweep of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and a split against archrival Susquehanna University.

She had a pair of 3-for-3 performances during the week â?" the first time in Juniata's 5-2 win over Susquehanna that handed the Crusaders their first Landmark loss. Nagy repeated the feat in a 9-3 win over Merchant Marine in game two of the twinbill, with a performance that included a three-run home run in the third inning. She also belted a home run in game one against the Mariners. The two round trippers were her first and second of the season, giving her 10 for her career to move into second among Juniata career home run leaders.

For the week, Nagy posted a 1.250 slugging percentage and did not commit an error in 17 chances at first base and right field.

Juniata is currently 16-15 overall, 6-6 in the Landmark Conference. The Eagles have completed their Landmark Conference slate, earning a berth in the Landmark tournament by virtue of their three league wins last week. Juniata will continue its regular season schedule on Thursday, April 29, when it travels to Penn State-Altoona for a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
