TOWSON, Md. -- Juniata College rained three-pointers down on Goucher College in the first half of the teams' Landmark Conference women's basketball game Saturday night, and the Eagles cruised to a 69-42 win over the Gophers at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.

Juniata (8-6, 2-1 Landmark) was 8-of-17 from three-point range in the first half alone, part of the Eagles' 17-of-32 (53.1 percent) effort from the field in the opening half. Five different players contributed to Juniata first half three-point barrage, with Ashton Bankos (York, Pa./York Catholic), Meagan Raville (McSherrystown, Pa./Delone Catholic), and Alyssia Gordon (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) each dropping a pair of threes in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Eagles dominated play right from the outset, jumping out to a 9-0 lead and holding Goucher off the scoreboard until the 14:09 mark of the first half. Bankos started the scoring with a jumper and a three-pointer in the opening three minutes of the game.

Goucher (4-9, 0-3 Landmark) would not score its second basket until the 11:41 mark, by which Juniata had already amassed a 19-4 lead. The Eagles went into the locker room with a 46-16 lead at the intermission, after holding the Gophers to just 7-of-25 shooting from the floor.

Juniata's shooting cooled a little in the second half while Goucher's shooters began to find their shot, but the Eagles' lead was never seriously threatened. Juniata's widest lead came at the 6:16 mark of the second stanza, when Erin McGinley's (Ashland, Pa./Tri-Valley) put the Eagles in front by 32, 64-32.

Bankos paced the Eagles' offensively with 12 points and four steals, while Jen Hnatuck (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) provided 10 points to the Juniata cause. Natalie Glinsky (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) hauled down seven rebounds to lead Juniata on the boards.

Goucher's Amber Smith had a game-high 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Gophers, who were outrebounded 46-37. The Gophers committed 25 turnovers, which was actually three fewer than Juniata's 28 giveaways, but the Eagles used the Gopher turnovers to better effect and picked up 32 points-off-of-turnovers.

Juniata returns home next weekend when it hosts the University of Scranton on Friday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
