NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Juniata College women's volleyball picked up two more victories while it's coach reached a career milestone, as the Eagles completed play in the Christopher Newport University Invitational in Newport News, Va.

In Juniata's first match of the day, the Eagles knocked off the University of Mary Washington, 3-1, by set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 28-26, and 25-9.

The win was the 1,200th victory for Juniata's Larry Bock as head coach of the Eagle women's volleyball program, in his 33rd season at the helm. Bock has the most wins of any collegiate volleyball coach, of either a men's or women's program.

Bock also recorded 100 wins as Juniata's head men's volleyball coach, giving him 1,300 collegiate victories overall.

Sophomore outside hitter Drew Barnhart (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) and freshman middle Ashley Schnader (Reinholds, Pa./Garden Spot) led the Eagles with 11 kills, while Barnhart added four points on service aces. Senior libero Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) tallied 21 digs, and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Juniata (19-2, 3-0 Landmark) finished the tournament with a 3-0 win over Salisbury University, by set scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-15.

Junior setter Steph Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) notched eight kills, and while senior opposite Paige Johnston (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) recorded five blocks. Schnader and junior middle Kristin Noetzel (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) each had four blocks.

Sollenberger had another solid defensive performance for the Eagles, turning up 24 digs.

Joining Sollenberger on the All-Tournament Team from Juniata were Johnston and Strauss.

Juniata returns to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 13, when it travels to Clarion, Pa., to take on Division II Clarion University.
