Huntingdon, Pa. - Clint Wevodau (Northern Lebanon/Annville), a senior on the Juniata College baseball team has been named Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week. The honor is the first given out by the conference this year and takes into account all of the games played by every team in the conference through this past Sunday.

Wevodau has started four games and appeared in five contests to date. He has put together a 3-0 record with an impressive 2.93 earned-run average. He has struck out 27 batters in 27.2 innings of work and he also has a save to his credit this spring. Wevodau has given up just nine earned runs in 27.2 innings this year and has not allowed more than three earned runs in a game.

Against Kenyon on March 8 down in Sarasota, Florida, he went the distance on the mound, struck out 10 and held the Profs to just two runs. He also posted a complete-game victory over Moravian on March 3 when he struck out four and scattered nine hits throughout the Greyhound lineup.

Wevodau started the year on February 18 with a complete-game, no decision at Shenandoah where he gave up just three hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out seven. His first victory of the season came at Chowan on February 23 when he tossed 6.2 innings and struck out five, while allowing three earned runs, six hits and three walks. The first save of his collegiate career came on March 6 against Eastern Mennonite. Wevodau threw the final inning of a 7-6 win and permitted just one hit.

He enters the northern portion of the schedule ranked first on the Juniata career innings pitched list with 211.0 frames. In addition, he is third in all-time wins on College Hill with his 20-7 overall record and is currently seventh in career strikeouts (100). The program standard for victories in a career is 23.

Juniata is currently 8-6 overall and 2-1 Commonwealth. The Eagles will play host to Messiah on Thursday for a single game starting at 3:00 p.m. The outing is a change from the originally schedule date of Friday, March 22.
