SCRANTON, Pa. â?" The Juniata College women's soccer team could not get past University of Scranton keeper Caitlin Byrne, and dropped a 2-0 shutout to the host Royals on Saturday afternoon in Scranton, Pa.

Scranton scored once in each half, notching what proved to be the game winner in the 37th minute when Emily MacPhee put a shot past Juniata keeper Lauren Auster-Gussman (Lancaster, Pa./Lancster Country Day). MacPhee's successful scoring attempt was one of six Scranton shots in the first half alone, as the Royals outshot Juniata 6-2 in the frame and 11-7 overall.

Eileen Sodano added an insurance goal in the 81st minute, with MacPhee earning the assist.

Auster-Gussman finished with three saves on the day. Byrne logged four saves over her 90 minutes in the Scranton goal.

Scranton had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks, and were whistled for offsides four times to Juniata's one.

Juniata (7-5-1, 1-3-0) returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 22, when it hosts Susquehanna University in its regular season home finale for 2008. Game time on Winton Hill Field is 4:00 p.m.
