HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Women's soccer keeper Lauren Auster-Gussman (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) and men's cross country runner Sam Williams (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central) have been named Juniata College's Athletes of the Week, for the week ending September 28, 2008.

Auster-Gussman helped lead the Eagle women's soccer team to a win in their Landmark Conference opener, recording three saves in a 1-0 win over Moravian College. The shutout was Auster-Gussman's fourth of the season, and her performance was good enough to earn the sophomore keeper Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The Eagle women's soccer team (6-2-0, 1-0-0 Landmark) will host Catholic University this Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.

Williams finished fourth overall in a tri-meet against Messiah College and Gettysburg College, both ranked in the top 10 in the Mideast Region in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association polls. Williams completed the 8 km course in a time of 28:31, and led the Eagles to a 27-28 win over Gettysburg.

This Saturday, the Juniata men's and women's cross country teams will be running at the Pre-National Invitational at Slippery Rock University, running on the same course that will be used for the NCAA Division II championships.
