HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's soccer team got back in the win column Saturday with a 1-0 win over Moravian College, on Winton Hill Field in Huntingdon, Pa.

Sophomore Katie Young's (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) goal in the 58th minute lifted Juniata to the victory, which halted a two-game losing streak for the Eagles and allowed Juniata to open its Landmark Conference slate with a win. Caitlin Bigelow (La Mesa, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) was credited with the assist.

Moravian outshot Juniata 7-4, forcing sophomore Lauren Auster-Gussman (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) to make three saves in the shutout victory.

"We spent a lot of time in practice the last two days working on our energy level and keeping it high, and that's what carried us all the way today," said Juniata head coach Scott McKenzie.

"Moravian played well today - they played very direct and kept the pressure on our defenders all day. All our defenders - and I think I played every defender I had - did a great job of controlling the pressure and making them (Moravian) more predictable, and then 'Goose' (Auster-Gussman) cleaned up anything that came near," said McKenzie.

Moravian keeper Caitlin Corrigan recorded just one save during the afternoon, while allowing one goal.

Juniata (6-2-0, 1-0-0 Landmark) returns to action this Tuesday when it travels to Westminster, Md., to face McDaniel College.
