CARLISLE, Pa. -- Senior Meghan Jones (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) and junior Sam Williams (Roaring Springs, Pa./Central) paced the Juniata College men's and women's cross country teams at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational, held Saturday in Carlisle, Pa.

Running in the men's 4 km event, Williams posted a time of 12:41.88, finishing 19th overall. Trailing Williams was Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) in 33rd place with a time of 12:54.17, and freshman Ceth Parker (Sabillasville, Md./Catoctin) who was 55th in a time of 13:14.96. A total of 187 runners competed in the men's 4 km race.

In the men's 8 km race, Steve Schmitt (New Providence Pa./Solanco) paced the Eagles with a time of 28:40.65, good enough for 87th place in a field of 192 runners. Kevin Donahue (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) was 95th in a time of 28:51.05, while Jon Pfadenhauer (Old Westbury, N.Y./The Wheatley School) was 102nd, finishing with a time of 28:55.21.

The Juniata women's team placed three runners among the top 50 in the women's 6 km run, led by Jones who finished 35th out of 91 entrants with a time of 25:06.10. She was followed by Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick), who was 41st in a time of 25:15.00, and Aubrey Cyphert (North East, Pa./Seneca), who placed 43rd in time of 25:21.59.

Freshman Danielle Brooks (Williamsburg, Pa./Williamsburg) was Juniata's top runner in the women's 4 km event, posting a time of 16:14.43 and finishing 60th overall. Another freshman, Melissa Maczis (Mount Airy, Md./Linganore) was 114th with a time of 17:28.08, while Anne Wakabayashi (El Cajon, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) was 116th overall with a time of 17:30.55, followed by Megan Peterson (Canton, Pa./Canton) who was 127th in the field of 197 with a time of 17:40.89.

Both Juniata cross country teams will compete next Saturday at a tri-meet with Gettysburg College and Messiah College.
