HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Debra Kirchhof-Glazier, professor of biology at Juniata College, will speak on how to incorporate various learning techniques into science courses in the talk "Active Teaching, Active Learning: Close Encounters in Biology I" as part of the Bookend Seminar lecture series at 4:30 p.m., Feb. 13 in A201 in the Brumbaugh Science Center on the Juniata campus.

The lecture is free and open to the public. The Bookend Seminar series features afternoon lectures each month by Juniata College faculty.

Kirchhof-Glazier will highlight several new teaching techniques for Juniata's freshman biology course, including Web-based instruction and the Classroom Performance System, which uses remote control units to allow students to answer questions. The system encourages students to participate more freely in class.
