Huntingdon, PA - A total of 30 student-athletes from the Juniata College fall sports teams were honored by being named to the Middle Atlantic Corporation (MAC) All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior, have a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a key player for his/her squad.

For the cross country squads, junior Michele Palmer (Littlestown/Littlestown) and sophomores Heather Gibney (Palmyra/Palmyra), Linda Maus (Woodland Hills/Pittsburgh) and Stefanie Rynkewitz (Lewistown/Lewistown) represented the Juniata women, while senior David Slat (Hollidaysburg/Hollidaysburg) and sophomore Tim Zentz (Hereford/Freeland, Md.) earned recognition on the men's side. Palmer has a 3.53 grade-point average as an elementary education major, while Gibney (3.47 - chemistry education), Maus (3.83 - exploratory), Rynkewitz (3.35 - elementary education), Slat (3.29 - biochemistry/molecular biology) and Zentz (3.63 - business) complete the mix of runners.

On the field hockey surface, honors were given to junior Jamie Wallish (Northern Lebanon/Grantville), who has a 3.60 GPA in health communications, and sophomores Katie Baver (Fleetwood/Fleetwood), who has a biochemistry program of emphasis (POE) and a 3.85 GPA, Dana Groff (Solanco/Quarryville), who has a 3.20 GPA and is studying business/communication, and Jackie Yingling (Littlestown/Gettysburg), a political science student with a 3.25 GPA.

Nine members of the Eagle football squad were recognized. Kyle Eckenroad (Hamburg/Hamburg), a junior offensive lineman, is a chemistry student with a 3.37 GPA. Junior quarterback Josh Finafrock (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) has a second education/social studies POE and a 3.35 GPA, while senior wide receiver Andy Radomsky (West Branch/Morrisdale) is a history/writing major with an impressive 3.80 GPA. Junior offensive linemen Jeff Spotts (Mifflinburg/Lewisburg) has a 3.56 GPA as a politics/history student, senior wide receiver Lucas Kelleher (BishopGuilfoyle/Altoona) is a behavioral sciences major with a 3.20 GPA, senior outside linebacker Jason Stouffer (Newport/Newport) is a business management student with a 3.20 GPA. Sophomores Brian White (Indian Hills/Oakland, N.J.), an offensive lineman with a 3.89 GPA and a secondary education/history POE, Michael Holtje (F.W. Springstead/Spring Hill, Fla.), a quarterback with a psychology/criminal justice POE and a 3.76 GPA, and Craig Moshier (Coudersport Area/Coudersport), a running back with a secondary education/biology POE and a 3.36 GPA complete the list of football honor recipients.

On the soccer field, six athletes represented Juniata on the MAC All-Academic Team. For the women, senior Amber Byers (Chambersburg/Chambersburg), a social work student with a 3.27 GPA, junior Megan McElroy (Acad. of Holy Cross/Silver Spring, Md.), a student with an environmental studies POE and a 3.50 GPA, and sophomores Erin Bachmann (Greece Odyssey/Rochester, N.Y.), a biology/psychology major with a 3.48 GPA, and Lindsey Roberts (Pomperaug/Middlebury, Conn.), an elementary education student with a 3.32 GPA, were all named to the squad.

Senior Matt Betting (Altoona/Altoona), who is a history/psychology student with a 3.31 GPA, and junior Matt Wolfe (Quakertown/Quakertown), who is studying English and has a 3.20 GPA, were the men's squad members.

For the women's tennis team junior Liz Osche (Acton-Boxborough/Acton, Mass.) and sophomore Debby Mensch (Salisbury/Allentown) received honors. Osche has a 3.25 GPA and is studying psychology, while Mensch has a biology POE and a 3.58 GPA. Finally, for the women's volleyball team, senior outside hitter Brandy Workinger (Dallastown/York), and sophomores Julie Reitz (Waynesboro/Waynesboro), a defensive specialist and opposite Christine Robbins (Burnt-Hills/Ballston Lake/Ballston Lake, NY) were honored. Workinger is an accounting major with a 3.51 GPA, while Reitz is studying accounting and has a 3.51 GPA and Robbins, who is a social science major, has a 3.22 GPA.
