HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Andrew Murray, professor of religion and director of the Baker Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies, and his wife, Terry, will talk about (and create) music in the talk \"Five Notes,\" at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Neff Lecture Hall in the von Liebig Center for Science. The lecture is free and open to the public. The talk is part of the Bookend Lecture Series, which features afternoon lectures each month by Juniata faculty. Andy and Terry Murray have released seven albums and performed more than 300 concerts in twenty states and Canada. They have performed as folksingers and Christian musicians at various Church of the Brethren events and churches across the nation. Their talk will focus on do-it-yourself music production using Pro Tools, the industry standard software for music recording and production. The Murrays will give a short workshop on the program and then ask members of the audience to provide five musical notes. The couple will then create a musical composition from the five suggested notes. Murray founded the Juniata Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies in 1985. He has led the Institute, named for the John C. and Elizabeth Evans Baker family in 1987, since its beginning. In 1988, he helped found the Peace Studies Association, an organization of more than one hundred colleges and universities with peace studies programs and has been elected twice as chair of its board of directors. Murray holds a bachelor\'s degree in sociology from Bridgewater College. He earned a master\'s degree in theology and a doctorate of ministry with a concentration in peace studies at Bethany Theological Seminary in Chicago, Ill. He has done additional studies at the University of Tamil Nadu, India; the Canadian Peace Research Institute; the Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari e di Perfezionamento, Italy; the Arias Institute for Peace, Costa Rica; and Penn State University.
