HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College field hockey squad closed out its 2007 home slate with a 2-0 win over Frostburg State University, Thursday night in Huntingdon, Pa. The 16th-ranked Eagles jumped out to a quick lead as Erin Smith (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) scored just over eight minutes into the game, off an assist from Michelle Campbell (Annville, Pa./Northern Lebanon). Juniata expanded its lead to 2-0 with 25:11 remaining in the second half, when Kim Wagner (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) scored on a penalty stroke. Wagner was awarded the penalty stroke after she was fouled by Frostburg State goalie Amanda Runion during a breakaway scoring attempt, and beat Runion on the stroke with a shot into the upper left corner of the goal. Juniata (12-2, 3-1 Landmark) outshot the Bobcats 13-2, however Frostburg had an 8-6 advantage in penalty corners. Runion finished the contest with seven saves, while Eagle goalie Moira Nugent (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) played all 70 minutes but was not credited with any stops. Senior Heather Hassinger (Middleburg, Pa./Middleburg) had one defensive save during the game. The Eagles' six remaining regular season games will all take place on the road, starting with this Saturday's Landmark Conference matchup at the University of Scranton. -30-
