HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College women\'s volleyball team began its 2007 season the same way it ended its 2006 campaign - with a pair of wins. Two very convincing wins. The Eagles (2-0, 0-0 Landmark) downed Dickinson College in three games, 30-15, 30-13, and 30-11, in the opening game of the 2007 ASICS Invitational tournament. Juniata then closed out its season opening day with a three-game win over Baldwin-Wallace, 30-13, 30-12, and 30-10. \"Our kids were sharp tonight and pretty excited to play somebody in a different uniform,\" said Juniata head coach Larry Bock. \"We served well, played good defense, and that was fun to watch. Baldwin-Wallace and Dickinson are both good teams and should have good years, and it feels good to do well against good teams.\" Junior Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) led the Eagles with 23 kills over the two matches, including a team-high 17 kills against Baldwin-Wallace. Sophomore Paige Johnston (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) chipped in with 13 kills during the evening. Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) totaled 21 digs over two matches, while Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) logged 12 digs. Beth Kozak (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) amassed 86 set assists on the day.
