Juniata 3, Richard Stockton 0 Juniata 3, Salisbury 0 SALISBURY, Md. ? The Juniata College volleyball team continues to just roll along as the Eagles earned another pair of 3-0 victories on the final day of play at the Salisbury Invitational. Juniata downed Richard Stockton 3-0 and then moved past host Salisbury by a 3-0 score. The wins improved Juniata?s record to 17-0. After getting off to a slow start on Friday evening, the Eagles were quick out of the gates on Saturday as they earned the win over Richard Stockton by scores of 30-22, 30-22 and 30-18. The Eagles had some different faces contributing in the match, including freshmen Michelle Morchesky (Hempfield/Greensburg) and Megan Lamens (Berlin Brothersvalley/Schellsburg) who each reached double figures in kills. Caddie Dickman (Unionville/Kennett Square) and Morchesky each finished with 11 kills in the match, while Lamens added 10. Beth Kozak directed Juniata?s offense with 39 assists and enjoyed a solid defensive effort with 16 digs. Megan Sollenberger (Cumberland Valley/Mechanicsburg) brought up 18 digs for the Blue and Gold to lead the team. Aly Pompeani (Hopewell/Aliquippa) led Juniata?s serving efforts in the match with three aces. Juniata closed out play at the tournament by sweeping past host Salisbury by scores of 30-16, 30-19 and 30-18. Juniata had four players reach double figures in kills, with Erin Albert (Philipsburg-Osceola/Philipsburg) pacing the team with 15. Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) added 13, Paige Johnston (Hempfield/Lancaster) chipped in 12 and Amber Thomas (Conestoga Valley/Ephrata) finished with 10 kills and no hitting errors. Thomas and Kozak were both named to the All-Tournament Team for the weekend event. The duo were again effectively defensively against Salisbury as Thomas had 13 digs and Kozak chipped in 10. Megan Sollenberger again led the team with 20 digs. Juniata will be back in action on Wednesday night when the Eagles take on Commonwealth foes Albright and Widener, with both matches taking place at Albright. ###
