Juniata 3, Whitman 0 Juniata 3, Mount Saint Joseph 1 Cincinnati, Ohio ? It didn?t come with a pair of 3-0 victories but it was another Invitational without a loss for the Juniata College women?s volleyball team as the Eagles remained unbeaten in 2006 on the strength of victories over Whitman and Mount Saint Joseph on the final day of competition at the Mount Saint Joseph Invitational. The Eagles improved to 9-0 with the wins. The top-ranked Eagles faced another ranked opponent for the second time this season when they took on Mount Saint Joseph, which is currently ranked 19th in the CSTV/AVCA Division III Top-25. The host was able to take one game from the Blue and Gold but Juniata responded with a solid 30-24, 20-30, 30-16, 30-21 win. Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) capped a solid day of play by posting a team-high 19 kills for Juniata in the match. Amber Thomas (Conestoga Valley/Ephrata) added 14 finishes for the Eagles. Kines also was solid on defense as she posted a team-best four blocks. Freshman Megan Sollenberger (Cumberland Valley/Mechanicsburg) produced a new career-high in digs over her young career as she brought up 25 digs in the match. Brittany Carr (Titusville/Titusville) led Juniata with four service aces. The victory over Mount Saint Joseph came after the Eagles recorded a efficient 30-21, 30-17, 30-17 win over Whitman in the first match of the day. Kines was the top finisher again for Juniata as she knocked out 14 kills, and again led the team in blocks with five. Rachael Schatz (West Perry/Elliotsburg) finished with 13 kills for the Blue and Gold. Thomas matched Kines with five blocks in the match, while Sollenberger was again the team leader in digs, this time finished with 17. Erin Albert (Philipsburg-Osceola/Philipsburg) provided four aces for Juniata. Juniata will return to action on Friday when the Eagles host their second tournament of the year. Long-time Juniata rival Washington University (Mo.) will be the opponent for the opening night of the two-day tournament. ###
