Juniata 7, Mount Aloysius 0 Cresson, Pa. ? It took a few minutes for the Juniata College men?s soccer team to get started, but one it did, the Eagles cruised to a 7-0 victory over Mount Aloysius Thursday afternoon in Cresson. The victory raised Juniata?s record to 2-1 on the season while the Mounties are now 0-2 on the year. Juniata got goals from six different players in the match, while four players produced one goal and one assist. Josh Cady (Malvern Prep/Frazer) scored twice for the Blue and Gold, with both his tallies coming in the second half. The Eagles fired off 19 shots in the first half, and after 16 scoreless minutes the Eagles found the mark at 16:55 as Andrew Steffan (Red Land/Lewisberry) produced his first collegiate goal off an assist from Greg Farabaugh (Cambria Heights/Carrolltown). Juniata struck again just three minutes later, this time with Steffan playing the role of set-up man as he assisted Chad A. Weller (Newport/Newport) to give Juniata a 2-0 edge. The Blue and Gold would add another pair of scores later in the half as Bryan Hess (South Western/Hanover) scored for the first time this season, with Mark Turkewitz (Dallastown/York) getting the assist in the 32nd minute. Fred McNeal (Troy/Towanda) added another score just minutes before intermission as he converted a feed from Hess to make the score 4-0. Cady quickly got things going for Juniata in the second stanza as he scored in the 54th minute and then found the net again in the 58th minute. Steve Crow (Middletown/Middletown) assisted on Cady?s first goal. Juniata then capped the scoring as Farabaugh got on the board with a goal in the 75th minute, with McNeal earning the assist. Juniata finished the match with 37 shots, while limiting the home team to five. Brady Griesheimer made 17 saves in goal for Mount Aloysius in the match. Tim Penrod (Moravia/Moravia, N.Y.) played the first half for Juniata, and made three saves. Brian Trinclisti (Lewistown/Lewistown) played the final 45 minutes and came away with one save. Juniata will return to action on Saturday with the Eagles again hitting the road, this time for a contest at Pitt-Bradford. ###
