JUNIATA FIELD HOCKEY FALLS SUFFERS ANOTHER TIGHT LOSS
Christopher Newport 1, Juniata 0

Huntingdon, Pa. ? In what has become a far too familiar refrain the Juniata College field hockey team suffered a tough, one-goal set-back in its season finale, falling to non-conference foe Christopher Newport in Huntingdon Saturday afternoon. Juniata closed the regular season with a record of 8-11 while Christopher Newport improved to 13-4 with the win.

The lone goal of the match came just 90 seconds before halftime as Christopher Newport?s Ashley Traylor took a feed from Lynsi Matthews and knocked it into the Juniata goal.

Neither team enjoyed a great deal of scoring chances throughout the match though Juniata senior goalkeeper Andrea Way (Fair Haven Union/Fair Haven, Vt.) made five saves to help keep Juniata within striking distance.

The Eagles forced seven penalty corners in the match, but finished with just one shot overall and did not force Christopher Newport goalkeeper Hannah Brown into making a save.

Juniata closed its season with an extremely high number of tight matches, as seven of the team?s last eight games were decided by one goal, including five overtime matches. Juniata came out on the short end of five of those contests.

Way, along with Sara Roux (Lewiston/Lewiston, Me.), Suzanne Lerner (Shawnee/Shamong, N.J.) and Elise Zimmerman (Cumberland Valley/Boiling Springs) closed their collegiate careers in the match.
