Bethlehem, Pa.? The Juniata College women?s tennis team had its chances of earning a conference postseason berth take a serious hit on Saturday as the Eagles dropped a 7-2 decision to Moravian College in Bethlehem. Juniata falls to 7-4 overall and 2-4 in the conference with the loss, while Moravian upped its record to 11-1 and 4-1 in the Commonwealth.

The match was the conference finale for the Eagles who will now need lots of help from other teams to claim a postseason berth.

Ashley Andrews (Altoona/Altoona) and Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) got Juniata started with one point as the duo picked up an 8-5 win at the first doubles position. The win improved Juniata?s top doubles duo to 9-2 on the season

Andrews then had Juniata?s only point in singles as she earned a straight-set 6-2, 6-4 victory at the first singles position. Andrews tied Weisser and Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) for the team lead with eight singles wins.

Juniata has one match remaining as the team will welcome Chatham next Saturday for a non-conference tilt.
