Huntingdon, PA - For the second time in as many weeks Juniata College women's volleyball player Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) has been selected as Commonwealth Conference women's volleyball player of the week. Kines helped Juniata to a perfect 3-0 week to claim her second conference honor of the season, and the sixth of her career. She has now been named the conference player of the week each of the two times it has been awarded in 2005.

Kines continued to provide offense and defense for the Eagles as Juniata earned three wins over Division II opponents at the Ashland Friendly's Volleyball Classic. She opened the weekend with a 14-kill, five-dig, four-block performance in a 3-0 victory over Lake Superior State. Her best match of the weekend came in a 3-1 victory over host Ashland University when she knocked out 19 kills with just one error, good for a .621 hitting percentage. She added three aces, seven blocks and two digs on the match, giving her 26 points. She then capped the weekend by pounding out 17 kills in three games against University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She added a season-high seven digs to go along with one block and one ace. For the week, Kines finished with a team-high 50 kills and a .455 hitting percentage. She also paced the Eagles with 12 blocks on the week, and her 64 points also led the team.

Through five matches in 2005, Kines leads Juniata in kills with 82 kills while recording an impressive .409 hitting percentage. She also leads the team in blocks and points, and is tied for third in aces.

Kines was an AVCA First-Team All-American as a sophomore as she led Juniata in kills, hitting percentage and blocks and also ranked fourth on the team in aces. Her .473 hitting percentage during the 2004 season ranked second in NCAA Division III.

Juniata is 5-0 in 2005 and remains in the second spot in the AVCA/CSTV Division III Top-25 Poll. Juniata will get strong tests this coming weekend as the Eagles take on three top-10 teams, including top-ranked Washington University (Mo.) at the Teri Clemens Invitational in St. Louis.
