Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College senior setter Carli Dale (Cochranton/Cochranton) has earned yet another honor for the Juniata College women's volleyball team as she has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine 2004 CoSIDA College Division Volleyball Academic All-America Team, and was named the College Division Volleyball Academic All-American of the Year as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award marks the first time she has earned Academic All-American status, and marks the first volleyball Academic All-American of the year that Juniata has captured. The honor comes one week after Dale was selected as the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III National Player of the Yearâ�"the first Juniata player to earn that honor as well.

Dale capped a remarkable career with a senior season in which she helped Juniata earn the program's first NCAA Division III National Championship. Dale earned first-team All-America honors for the second consecutive season, and was on the All-America team for the third time in her career. She was a four-time All-Region and All-Conference pick during her career, and was also named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year for the second time in as many seasons this year. Dale was also selected as the NCAA Division III Tournament Most Valuable Player as she helped lead the Eagles to the title.

Statistically she ranks among the most accomplished setters in NCAA history. A four-year starter, Dale now ranks in third place in NCAA Division III history with 6,385 career assist. That total is good for first place in Juniata history in career assists. She averaged 13.30 assists per game during her career, which is first in NCAA Division III history. She ranks fourth in Juniata history in career digs, bringing up 1,565 for her career. She led NCAA Division III in assists per game in her junior season, and ranked in the top-five in the country in assists per game as a senior. She also helped Juniata finish in the top-five in Division III in team hitting percentage.

Dale enjoyed her finest statistical campaign in her senior year as she passed out a career high 1,702 assists and led Juniata with 438 digs. She was seventh on the team with 141 kills, was third in aces with 47 and finished fifth on the team in blocks with 32. She was named the AVCA/Sports Imports Division III Player of the Week on one occasion during the season and was the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week three times.

In the classroom Dale has accumulated a 3.843 cumulative grade point average as an accounting major. She is a member of the National Economics and Business Honor Society and has been named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll on three occasions. She was chosen as the team captain by her teammates as both a junior and senior.

All student-athletes selected to the College Division Academic All-District first team are eligible for the Academic All-America team. The Academic All-American of the year is selected from among the first-team Academic All-Americans. Dale is one of just two players on both the AVCA All-America team and the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team.
