Susquehanna 4, Juniata 0

Selinsgrove, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s soccer team was unable to match one of its biggest wins of the 2003 season as the Eagles dropped a 4-0 decision to conference foe Susquehanna in Selinsgrove. Juniata is now 5-6-1 overall and 0-3 in the conference, while Susquehanna improved to 8-2-1 for the year and 2-0-1 in the conference.

The Crusaders put the game out of reach with a three-goal stretch over 12 minutes of the first half. Jess Paulshock scored her 13th goal of the year at the 24:32 mark with assists from Erin Trumbower and Trish Noel.

Seven minutes later the Crusaders would sneak another goal past Eagle keeper Lisa Russo (Lakeland/Haskell, N.J.) as Lindsay Nevins scored the first of her two tallies. Paulshock assisted on the score.

Nevins struck again five minutes later, taking a long pass from Kera Laicha and moving in on Russo for her second goal of the match.

Russo finished with 11 saves on the night, several of them thwarting sure goal-scoring chances for Susquehanna.

The home team would cap the scoring with Paulshock adding another score with slightly more than a minute remaining. Katie Russell and Christine Anderson assisted on the final score.

Juniata finished the match without a shot as Susquehanna keeper Kim Wild posted the shutout.

Juniata will host non-conference opponent Wilkes in the team?s next match on Saturday afternoon.
